Health, Wellness, and Recreation Network

2009 Network of the Year!

Read about why the Health, Wellness, and Recreation Network was selected Network of the Year.

Mission Statement:

Did you ever think that you can run a marathon, or even a 5k? Would you like to take a free healthy cooking class? Do you know of the positive effects acupuncture has on your overall health? Would you like a partner or group to go swimming, running, biking, walking, hiking or to a yoga class with? If you are seeking answers to any of these questions, then this is the network for you!

The Health, Wellness, and Recreation Network seeks to bring awareness about overall well-being to professional women.  Balancing a career, family, and personal life is not an easy task in today's world. However, it is our mission to make sure that women are educated, motivated, and have a support network while transforming their minds and bodies to ensure optimum well-being. To achieve results, our goal is to expand focus on women's health and well-being by providing networking opportunities through recreation and physical activities.

About the network co-chairs:

Christine L. LeMieux is Co-Chair of the Health, Wellness, and Recreation Network for WIN.  Fitness and well-being have always been an integral part of Christine's life, despite having severe asthma and and other health setbacks.  She is a former member of the Division I women's soccer team at Syracuse University, and played women's semi-pro soccer for Colorado's Denver Mustangs.  In 2006, Christine ran her first marathon in San Francisco, and raised over $4000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the Team In Training sports endurance preparation program.  Recently, Christine became certified as a Personal Trainer, and holds her credentials through the American Council on Exercise.  She is a native of mid-coast Maine and enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking and trail running.

Isra Pananon is Co-Chair of the Health, Wellness, and Recreation Network for WIN.  Isra, an all-sport junkie, enjoys a wide variety of exercises and recreational activities.  In high school, she was a three-sport athlete in Lacrosse, Soccer, and Ice Hockey, and eventually made the choice to pursue lacrosse at the collegiate level.  Isra played Division I Lacrosse as a goalie at Manhattan College, and has continued her career as a coach and fitness trainer at many different levels of the game.  Isra is an avid golf player, and has also played softball, basketball, tennis, flag football, and even bowling in organized leagues.  She has also competed in a half-marathon and triathlon, and will train for a full marathon in the future.  Isra enjoys learning about different ways to train, and helping others achieve their goals. Lastly, Isra is a native Washingtonian and super fan of the Washington Redskins!

Kemuel Durham is the newest Co-Chair of the Health, Wellness, and Recreation Network for WIN.  She is an attorney with a very sedentary job and engaging in recreational activities provides that critical balance in her life.   Kem is passionate about pilates and enjoys walking, hiking, and biking.   Recently, Kem has discovered tennis and has been trying the patience of all of her friends as she learns the basics.  She visits the gym regularly but she is easily bored. Therefore, she is always looking  for new recreational and physical activities to try.
