Network of the Year Award

In recognition of the significant commitments and contributions WIN's Network Chairs make to the organization, WIN presented the first Network of the Year (NOTY) Award in 2007. This award is presented annually at WODW to one network that has demonstrated outstanding network leadership beyond the core network requirements by providing consistent, high-quality programming through innovation and self-directed leadership. WIN Network Chairs are eligible to receive this award once.

Network of the Year 2009: Health, Wellness, and Recreation Network
Chairs: Christine LeMieux and Isra Pananon

Throughout the year, Christine and Isra planned and hosted 30 events, including how to make your own green cleaning supplies, a healthy holiday party recipe swap, and regular outings to the driving range so that women could feel comfortable playing golf, a game traditionally associated with the old boys club. Their programming brought an innovative and welcome hands-on element to WIN and provided space for members to bond and network while learning new skills and improving their lives.

Over the year they reached out to partner with many other networks and have greatly contributed to WIN-wide efforts including our membership drive - displaying their commitment to WIN by their willingness to pass out postcards on rainy Saturday morning at a farmers market. Christine and Isra have also led the way when it comes to embracing and expanding WIN's communications and technology tools by creating a monthly online newsletter, a blog, and a Facebook group.

Isra and Christine truly embody the spirit of WIN by always looking for new and creative ways to help empower other women. Our networks are the core of WIN and Christine and Isra are phenomenal women who brought unique and successful programming to WIN.
