Serious Materials & Webcor Builders AIA 2009 Reception

April 30th - USGBC-NCC / AIA SF Offices, San Francisco

Join Serious Materials, Webcor, AIA-SF, and USGBC-NCC to celebrate the end of a busy Day 1 of AIA 2009 with industry colleagues who are committed to energy-efficient design and building green. Toward a New Design Paradigm - LEAF

Leadership in Ecological Applications and Functions

May 2nd - Rana Creek Nursery, Carmel Valley

Rana Creek's Living Architecture Department specializes in the design of sustainable sites and vegetated structures. Paul Kephart, President of Rana Creek, and fellow team members will guide a tour of their nursery and provide an overview of their pioneering LEAF program, highlighting their holistic focus on ecological applications and functions. Environmental and parking considerations lead us to implement formal carpooling to this event. Space is limited to 75 registrants. BAyLUG: LEED for Homes: Challenges and Opportunities

May 7th - USGBC-NCC Offices
The Bay Area LEED Users Group (BAyLUG) will be hosting a presentation on LEED for Homes. Often misunderstood, LEED for Homes is an excellent market motivator and combined with other local programs has sparked the city-wide trend to adopt a green building ordinance. LEED for Homes came online in early 2008 and has begun to influence the spaces we occupy for over 1/3 of our lives. Please join other LEED AP's and sustainability professionals for an informative session on opportunities and challenges within the Homes program. Similar to the previous BAyLUG event, we will make the event engaging and collaborative in an effort to share knowledge within the group. Beer and wine will be provided; we ask for donations to sustain these events. Register today!

Tour of UC Davis Graduate School of Management - LEED NC Gold

The new Graduate School of Management (GSM) now under construction at the University of California at Davis is anticipated to achieve LEED Gold on budget and on schedule! This event will review innovative design strategies associated with bringing the project's success to fruition - Building Information Modeling (BIM) & Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). The event will include a powerpoint presentation, discussion, and a light dinner at the University Club. USGBC-NCC Silicon Valley Branch celebrates its one year anniversary on Tuesday, May 12 with an exhibition to showcase some of our local Green Resources.
