Monterey Bay Branch - LEED Project Management: Lessons Learned & Best Practices

June 3rd - Moss Landing Marine Labs

With the growing influence and prevalence of the LEED rating system for design and construction, learning the ins and outs of managing the LEED certification process is becoming increasingly important. This month's presentation features three speakers with an impressive depth of LEED project management experience in a variety of LEED project types including: New Construction, Existing Buildings, Commercial Interiors, Core and Shell, and Schools. The first part of the program will feature a short presentation by each speaker focusing on his or her particular project management experience and lessons learned from the LEED certification process. The second part will feature a panel discussion with an opportunity for questions from the audience. Speakers include Elizabeth Cordero, LEED AP, Principal - Green Building Consulting Co.; Jordan Daniels, LEED AP, Director of Business Development - BuildingWise LLC; and Joe Piedimonte, LEED AP, CFO - Ausonio Inc. Water Efficiency and Infrastructure Seminar: Getting Ready for Summer

June 10th - San Francisco

As summer approaches, the likelihood of drought and the need for water conservation efforts becomes a more pressing issue.  In order to help prepare for the dry months, USGBC - Northern California Chapter will be hosting a seminar focusing on the San Francisco water infrastructure and methods available to consumers to reduce their usage.  Speakers include members of the PUC Water department to discuss city water infrastructure and to highlight their rebate programs focusing on conservation efforts.  MEP engineers and other professionals will also be on hand to speak about water usage reduction. Free Design Clinic for Architects, Designers and Students

June 18th & 25th, July 2nd, 9th & 16th - San Francisco

This is a six-week course entitled 'Architecture as Activism' that exists within the Sustainable Design curriculum offered by the UC Berkeley Extension. The class will be structured to operate as an ad hoc design studio working for the vast community of non-profits, shelters, SROs and small business owners typically under-served by our profession. We will open our doors during the scheduled class hours to anyone seeking design advice, education and services.
