The goal is for participants to come away with a clear understanding of the building and energy audit process from the initial assessment through corporate planning, implementation of green building strategies and LEED certification. Geared toward building owners, facilities managers, maintenance contractors, developers and government representatives, the course is in slide presentation format and also contains hands-on activities and case studies to illustrate the ASHRAE Energy Audit Process. LEED 2009, Managing the Transition

July 24th - USGBC-NCC/AIA SF Offices, San Francisco

August 25th - StopWaste, Oakland

Led by Green Building Services, this workshop will be a comprehensive overview and analysis into the green building movement and specifically, upcoming changes to the LEED Rating System.  Drawing from the experience of helping to write the LEED 2009 Reference Guide and Exam Prep Study Guides, GBS experts will provide an outline of the 2009 changes to the core LEED products using project examples to illustrate the core changes.  This informative session will help you improve your understanding of what is coming and what impact these changes will have on your future projects.  Additionally, the presentation will explore what is happening with key market sector rating systems, such as Schools, Healthcare, and Retail as well as updates in LEED professional accreditation.  By the end of this two and a half hour training, you will have an understanding of how to effectively communicate with team members and clients about what these changes mean on-the-ground. This training will be delivered by a GBS Principle and Senior Consultant. Register today - early bird member rates available!

LEED Core Concepts & Strategies

August 13th - SMUD, Sacramento

Led by USGBC faculty members Lynn Simon and Pepper Smith, this workshop provides essential knowledge of the LEED Rating Systems and sustainable building concepts for those seeking a better understanding of LEED or pursuing GBCI's LEED Green Associate credential. By presenting LEED concepts at the credit category level - across building types and rating systems - and basics on the building certification process, this workshop provides the foundation required for any 300-level LEED education offering. Real project examples help demonstrate and reinforce learning. Recommended Prior Knowledge: Familiarity with USGBC and LEED, or USGBC's "Green Building Basics and LEED" instructor-led workshop or online program. Learn more & Register!

BAyLUG - The State of Healthcare and How It Relates to LEED

July 15th - USGBC-NCC Offices, San Francisco

Building healthcare facilities in California presents unique opportunities and significant challenges.  The Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) programs endeavor to implement the vision of equitable healthcare accessibility for California.  As a regulating authority, it makes innovation within the industry difficult.  LEED and California's push for sustainable development provides interesting challenges and discussions in which the Bay Area LEED Users Group will explore.

Please join representatives from Anshen & Allen, Charles M. Salter and Associates, and DPR Construction in bringing together a panel discussion of the differences in the rating systems and the difficulties with fitting LEED into the healthcare building type.  Also we will look at the acoustical challenges and prescriptive requirements associated with new versions of LEED BD&C as well as LEED for Healthcare. Tickets for members are by donation, non-member tickets are $10. Register!
