Volunteer Opportunity: USGBC-NCC Residential Green Building Committee Secretary
Interested in gaining insight into the residential green building community? The USGBC-NCC Residential Green Building (RGB) Committee is seeking a motivated individual to join their team. This position is perfect for someone new to the industry, a college student, or a recent graduate who can commit 4-6 hours a month and attend their monthly meetings (4th Wednesday of the month at the Pacific Energy Center on Howard St in San Francisco).
The RGB Secretary will communicate directly with Michael and Piper, co-chairs of RGB, and help expedite communication with the Committee. This includes:
1) attending monthly RGB Committee meetings with a laptop and taking notes during the 1.5 hour meetings
2) emailing the meeting notes to the committee directly after meetings
3) creating an agenda 1 week prior to each meeting (i.e. get info from Piper/Michael for this)
4) emailing agenda to our mailing list 4-7 days prior to monthly meetings
5) calling our members directly when needed, estimated once quarterly
This is a role that is an ideal networking position for anyone interested in the green residential market and is also a great introduction to the workings of this committee. It has great potential for growth and is a good training position for someone interested in being a future Chair or Advocate of the Residential Green Building Committee.
Email Piper Kujac if you are interested in this position.
A Common Green - a few more volunteers needed!
August 20th, 5-8pm - The Bently Reserve, San Francisco
The LEED certified Orchard Hotels and the Bently Reserve have partnered to create an unprecedented eco-event: they will gather San Francisco's green leaders under one roof for a special night of collaboration and creation. Bay Area nonprofits, foundations, and businesses will have a unique opportunity to connect face-to-face during this lively and inspiring evening. A first of its kind for San Francisco, A Common Green will give eco-friendly organizations the chance to network, communicate, and coordinate their efforts under one green roof. The possibilities for new partnerships, collaborations, and initiatives are endless - but the goal for a greener future is common to all.
Volunteers are needed at the event from 3:30pm to 7:30pm for the check-in table, to direct people to the different areas of the event, and at the end of the event, to hand out thumb drives with green information. To volunteer, please contact Jim Bruels. Check out the event and Facebook and share with your friends.
