Join the newly formed Diablo East Bay Branch for our Inaugural Kick-off Gala at the beautiful historic Wente Vineyards.  The winery draws from approximately 3,000 acres of sustainably farmed Estate vineyards in the scenic Livermore Valley. Wente was founded over 125 years ago and is still under ownership and management by the Fourth and Fifth Generations of the Wente family. Keynote Speaker Gil Friend, CEO of Natural Logic and author of The Truth About Green Business, will provide a motivational presentation from his 37 years in business. Live music will be provided by The Hurricane Band, and many great items will be raffled off. Buy your ticket!

Green HVAC & Getting to Net Zero

Achieving net zero energy consumption is a balancing act between the design of the mechanical-electrical systems, the design of the building envelope, and the energy needs of the building's occupants. David Knight and Larry Weingarten have pursued this balancing act throughout their careers in an impressive array of projects in a variety of ways. Their combined experience with mechanical systems alone includes solar thermal, solar electric, geothermal, and other energy technologies. Learn more and register!

BAyLUG LEED Guru Roundtable

Showcase your LEED understanding and get your most difficult questions answered!

This month, the Bay Area LEED User Group (BayLUG) presents a round table discussion designed to investigate and answer the more difficult questions posed by LEED.  Welcoming individuals with all levels of LEED knowledge, including industry experts, seasoned vets, and newbies, this event aims to provide valuable insight on how to solve some of the nuances in the LEED puzzle.

BayLUG Committee Chairs Ryan Potvin and Matt Macko of Environmental Building Strategies will compile participants' questions ahead of time to ensure an efficient delivery.  Join the round table discussion and submit your LEED questions to Matt Macko by August 30th.  If time permits, there will be an open question format at the end.  Drinks and appetizers will be served. Register!
Leaders of Silicon Valley: Visioning our Green, Clean Future

2009 has been a year of great economic turmoil, yet there is great optimism in Silicon Valley for the future. Silicon Valley is where the unique convergence of creative energy, venture capital, educational and technical infrastructure and innovative people from many cultures allows it to continually reinvent itself to brew tomorrow's ideas into reality.

USGBC Silicon Valley Branch has asked key representatives of the best of the Valley to express their vision for the future of our region, our nation and our world as it relates to their perspectives on what has been happening and what needs to be happening in the green building / clean tech movement. Come join us to see the vision.

Water Resource Management

Sacramento residents use twice the amount of water per capita than cities in the southern part of our state!  With growing concern about demand and increasing scientific data on the supply challenges in our state, everyone needs to step up and do their part to conserve this precious resource.  We will view a new 22 minute film - "A Climate of Change" - produced jointly by the State Department of Water Resources and the nonprofit Water Education Foundation. Following the film will be a panel presentation from City, State and Regional Water Department staff on what can be done individually and collectively to address water conservation. Panelists will include Summer Christensen from the County of Sacramento Department of Water Resources; Linda Higgins from the Regional Water Authority; and
Project Landscape Architect David Campbell, CRLA/LEED AP, from the HLA Group. Register!

Green Building Super Heroes Awards Gala v3

Mingle with the "Who's Who" of the green building industry at the world's most exciting science museum, the LEED Platinum California Academy of Sciences. Guests will enjoy music, delicious organic cuisine and an open bar while exploring exhibits such as the four-story Rainforest Dome, Steinhart Aquarium and Living Roof. Register today!
