About This Year's Award Recipients

StopWaste's Green Building in Alameda County - Community Award

Green Building in Alameda County, a program of StopWaste.org, is a community leader in green building. The program has assisted residents, construction industry professionals, and public agencies with policy and design, greening homes, recycling of construction and demolition debris, and much more. They were instrumental in the development of the GreenPoint Rating system and the implementation of a countywide green retrofit program for existing buildings and landscapes in Alameda County.

Integrated Design Associates (IDeAs) - Green Groundbreaker Award

Leaders in cutting edge sustainable building design and research, the IDeAs Z2 Design Facility is California's first net-zero energy zero carbon commercial building. IDeAs staff is also actively engaged in educating the community about energy efficient lighting, daylighting and electrical design.

The David Brower Center - Green Team Award

One of the Bay Area's most advanced green buildings, the David Brower Center is an inspiring home for environmental and social action. The Center includes state-of-the art offices, the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Theater, the Hazel Wolf Gallery, meeting space, and a restaurant. A central address for ideas, innovation, and connections within the nonprofit community, the Brower Center is an invaluable asset for the region and a landmark for anyone, anywhere committed to the planet and its inhabitants. The Green Team includes the developers, designers, and construction partners who worked on the project.

Anthony Bernheim - David Gottfried Special Achievement Award

Anthony Bernheim is a pioneer in sustainable, green, and high performance building practices and the Sustainability Principal for AECOM Design, one of the world's largest architecture and engineering firms, with operations in 100 countries.  A specialist in integrated building practices and indoor air quality, his work has profoundly influenced the design profession and the building industry. He is a former Board member of USGBC-NCC, and is currently the Treasurer of the Board of USGBC.
