This month's Bay Area LEED Users Group (BAyLUG) event is designed to address individual LEED material questions. Bring a list of materials employed in upcoming and past projects, and let's discuss the various "green" qualities of these products. We are especially interested in looking at how these products behave in the field. Join us for this roundtable discussion! This event is of special interest to LEED APs. Learn the advantages of generating your own power at your business or home, how to take advantage of dropping solar module prices and financing options for solar power systems. A representative from PG&E will also present an introduction to the "smart grid," how the plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle industry relies on the smart grid, and how managing building loads during peak usage reduces the impacts of power generation. The nine-member Northern California Chapter Board of Directors has five open positions starting in January 2010. Each position is a two-year term that ends December 2011.The four standing Directors will serve through their second year.

Thanks to your continued support and interest in the programs that the USGBC-NCC Monterey Bay Branch offer each month, now in it's sixth year, the branch is stronger than ever! We invite you to join our branch as an active participant in moving the green revolution forward in our community. Many hands make light work, so we need your help to keep this all volunteer organization advocating and educating on green building in Santa Cruz, Monterey,and San Benito Counties. Meet the Candidates for the Silicon Valley Branch and Committee Chairs! Get to know the candidates before you submit your vote in the upcoming Branch elections in November . It is hard to select a candidate solely on their posted written statements. And, there's a no campaigning rule. This will be your chance to meet and greet the SVB candidates, have the candidates answer questions from you and the members of our green building community, and hear their voices on how they would plan to contribute to the Silicon Valley Branch in 2010. Concurrently, we will be collecting and learning about your ideas for the branch. We want to hear your thoughts about speakers, events, topics, venues and strategies for 2010 and beyond.
