You can take action today to improve statewide water supply reliability while protecting the environment!

Let your state Senator and Assembly Member know that you support AB 1408. As we enter a “new normal” of climate change and work to restore an ailing Delta ecosystem, regions have more reason than ever to increase water conservation. This conservation includes water recycling and graywater use; protecting and cleaning groundwater resources; and working to reduce water demand while accommodating expected growth through water-neutral development measures.

California requires a reliable water supply to sustain our population, accommodate our economic growth, and maintain our unique environment. Governor Schwarzenegger recently recognized these challenges by calling for a 20% reduction in per capita water use in California by 2020 and requesting legislation to implement this goal. AB 1408 will institute Water-neutral development programs that will help address our need to accommodate growth without increasing water demand. AB 1408 encourages developers to incorporate cost-effective water efficiencies measures into their new projects and provide incentives for those developers to also fully offset the remaining demand of their projects. Water-neutral development can help to secure water supplies for California’s existing and future residents without putting additional pressures on the state’s already strained natural ecosystems. I ask for your leadership and support on this critical issue. Please support AB 1408. Sincerely,
