Tell the US Ambassador to the UN that Clean Water IS a Human Right
Did you know that 1.2 billion people have no access to safe drinking water? Or that every 8 seconds a child dies from preventable water-borne disease? There is something you can do.
On July 28, 2010, the United Nations’ General Assembly will finally debate and consider a resolution supporting the right to “safe and clean drinking water and sanitation.” We need the UN to explicitly recognize the human right to water and sanitation, but some UN members (like the U.S., Canada, Australia and England) oppose a resolution establishing the right to clean, drinkable water and proper sanitation.
We need you to tell Susan Rice, U.S. Ambassador to the UN, it is time for the U.S. to support the very basic human right to safe drinking water and ensure there is proper sanitation around the world.
