Ask Your Senator to Cosponsor S. 929, the LEARN Act

Please Contact Your Senators!

Senator Patty Murray (WA) has reintroduced the Literacy Education for All, Results for the Nation (LEARN; S. 929) Act along with cosponsors Mark Begich (AK), Sherrod Brown (OH), AL Franken (MN), Jack Reed (RI), and Bernie Sanders (VT). This legislation is a comprehensive, pre- K through grade 12 bill that features writing and reading and offers alignment from early childhood across all grade levels and across all subject areas with support for state literacy plans and money to districts for their self-defined needs.

Please take a moment to write your Senators asking them to cosponsor S. 929.

While you can send the model letter as is, we hope you will choose to modify it to highlight at least one of the aspects of the letter by including your personal educator story about what works for you. The teacher expertise and commitment that you express in your letter could motivate your Senators to seriously consider what you have said as they study and ultimately vote on ESEA reauthorization.

Thank you for your participation in this advocacy effort, one way that you partner with NCTE to improve educational policy in America.
