Abandoned Dog Died Tied to Tree -- Deferred Sentence
Update 9/10/10
On September 7, 2010, Cody Manning pleaded guilty to one felony count of aggravated animal abuse and received a two-year deferred sentence of two years unsupervised probation, an animal cruelty evaluation and court costs.
(El Paso County, CO) Evicted in October 2009, Cody and Jessica Manning allegedly abandoned their two dogs, reportedly leaving one tied to a tree and one inside a trailer. A chocolate lab was allegedly tethered outside without food, water or shelter and was discovered there in December, deceased and presumed to have died due to exposure. A border collie left inside the trailer – also reportedly without food or water – had managed to stay alive by eating garbage, and has since been adopted into a new home. Cody Manning and Jessica Manning were charged with animal cruelty and were in court on March 1, 2010.
