Border Action Update
Thursday, July 2, 2009
Hi Supporter,
While our state still doesn't have a budget, we can relax a little with the knowledge that ZERO anti-immigrant bills made it out of the Arizona legislature and that your emails to legislators helped do it! Take a second and pat yourself on the back! While we're celebrating that victory, we're also building momentum for the road to immigration and border policy reforms! Check out the updates below on recent meetings at the White House and here in Arizona with DHS officials. And, the Border Action family just keeps growing --help us welcome two new Organizing Coordinators!
Thanks for everything you do! --Ana

Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at 7:30 am, marked the final day of the Arizona State Legislature, bringing to end yet another senseless barrage of anti-immigrant, hate-based legislation. Thank you to you all for taking action these last three weeks-your hard work and dedication has truly paid off!!
From January to June, the Arizona legislature was deadlocked in debates over resolving the state's $3 billion budget deficit, withholding all non-budget related bills until there was a budget on the table. Continue reading...
Thank those legislators that took a stand against Russell Pearce and voted down HB2280! (click here)

CTWO: Organizing Training Opportunity
We'd like to introduce you to a national organization that we've worked closely with for many years: Oakland, CA based The Center for Third World Organizing
(CTWO, pronounced "C-2"). CTWO has worked with Border Action's staff, members and board of directors, to better understand communty organizing, how to plan winnable campaigns and to develop smart strategies. All across the country, CTWO provides training in key skills and analysis and helps build bridges between and across communities of color so that we can all develop and assert a more equitable vision of society through concerted action and reflection.
We invite you to learn more about the great work of CTWO at their website www.ctwo.org or their Facebook Cause.
