On Monday, April 21 the Arizona Senate gave the final stamp of approval to HB2807. The bill is now on its way to Governor Napolitano’s desk where she has the choice: require all Arizona police and sheriffs departments to create programs to address federal immigration violations or veto it. We want her to veto it.
Another bill, HB2359, would allow Sheriff’s to sign agreements with Immigration without County Boards of Supervisor approval will likely be approved the legislature this week and be sent to her desk as well.
Time is limited. She needs to hear from you THIS WEEK asking her to veto HB2807 and HB2359.
Border Action Network is distributing postcards around the state that are being sent to the Governor telling her to veto the bills. Our goal is to send 1,000 postcards in 1 ½ weeks. We need your help!
To stop these bills from becoming law, you can do three simple things:
1) Send the Governor an email today urging her to veto HB2807 and HB2359.
2) Forward this email to friends, family, co-workers in Arizona and ask them to send her an email
3) Ask your business, school, church, community group, and/or local officials to send a letter on letterhead to the Governor urging her to veto these two bills. Download a sample letter here.
