On Wednesday, February 16th, the House Military Affairs & Public Safety Committee will hear HB2677. This bill will require Arizona’s Department of Revenue to impose a tax on all international wire transfers sent from Arizona. The revenues collected from this tax will be deposited in a newly established border security fund to be used to construct a fence along Arizona and Mexico border.

If signed into law, this bill would force the Arizona Department of Revenue to impose an assessment on any entity that transmits international wire transfers. The bill also establishes an income tax credit for the amount paid under this tax. The revenues collected will be used to purchase equipment and employ personnel for the construction of a fence along the border between Arizona and Mexico.
