Debate is scheduled to begin tomorrow in the U.S. House of Representatives over the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill (HR 2892). There are three proposed amendments to this bill that would require the construction of even more border wall!

Please call and/or fax your congressperson in the U.S. House of Representatives today! Take 30 seconds right now and email your U.S. Representative and tell them to OPPOSE the following amendments to HR 2892:

PLEASE OPPOSE: Brown-Waite Amendments #15 and #47, which would provide $89 million for border fencing, offset by funds from the Undersecretary of Management.

PLEASE OPPOSE: Steve King's Amendment #38, which “Would prohibit funds for border security fencing, infrastructure and technology to be used for anything but at least two layers of reinforced fencing and roads, pursuant to section 102 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (Real ID Act of 2005).

Please oppose HR2892 Amendments #15, #47 & #38 of HR2892. Border security strategies that rely on building walls and fences, like Steve King’s Amendment #38, are ineffective, costly and are an affront to the U.S.'s largest trading partner. Taxpayers have already been charged over $2.4 billion for the US-Mexico border wall. Maintenance costs will overtake initial construction costs within seven years. Hastily-constructed border walls have separated families, caused damaging floods and erosion, and fractured habitat and migration corridors vital to wildlife that has been pushed to the brink of extinction. Instead of billion dollar border band-aids, we need workable solutions for America. Please oppose HR2892 Amendments #15, #47 & #38 and support comprehensive immigration reform.
