Ordinary people coming together to address their collective challenges is the surest way to sustainable and positive change. Community organizing is a process that equips regular people to come together and solve problems. Low-income people. People of color. All marginalized people are empowered by organizing towards a common purpose.
The Center for Community Change works to lift up community organizing as a vehicle for change on a national scale. Our grassroots partners across the country are working to create change in their neighborhoods. With our help, they are coming together to make their voices heard in Washington, DC.
We are living in a critical time of our nation's history. We have seen that the politics of individualism and "on your own" mentality have failed us. Instead, our nation needs a new path by embracing the politics of community and the idea that we're all in it together - that when we care and struggle alongside those living with the most disadvantage in our communities, all of us do better. Imagine what community values can achieve on issues like health care, immigration or jobs. It has already given us the minimum wage, medicare, social security, parks, public schools and the list goes on.
Our nation is at its best when we lift up these values. And we we are at our best when we act on community values through community organizing.
