Subject: Where are PNM's Renewables?
Your Letter:
Dear CEO and President Pat Vincent-Collawn and Senior VP Ron Darnell, Maintaining old and economically marginal plants that require huge sums of new investment due to environmental regulation and high operating and maintenance costs no longer makes financial sense and is imprudent. Now is the time to end the dependence on dirty coal that has alarming health consequences for our people. Thank you so much for agreeing to close two units at the San Juan Generating station by the end of 2017. This is a great first step! We need clean energy and we need it now. A decisive and deliberate shift away from fossil fuels to solar, wind and geothermal energy sources, especially with the potential in New Mexico, is pragmatic and necessary. Clean energy can re-energize our economy and solve climate change. I urge you to shut down coal and transition to renewables as soon as possible.
Ron Darnell
