Ask Abercrombie & Fitch to Stop Spraying!

A&F: Not so FierceHave you been near an Abercrombie & Fitch store lately and noticed the smell?  The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, Teens Turning Green and other allies are calling on A&F stop spraying its fragrance "Fierce" inside and outside its stores. A&F Fierce contains 11 secret chemicals not listed on the label, some of which are linked to asthma, allergies and sex hormone disruption (definitely not fierce).

Yesterday we sent a letter to CEO Mike Jeffries -- signed by teens, parents, nurses, doctors, and environmental and health groups representing 1.5 million people -- asking A&F to immediately stop this practice of spraying its stores and clothes with fragrance and, in the longer term, to reformulate its fragrances to remove hazardous chemicals and fully disclose all of the ingredients.

Please join us in stopping this toxic assault on workers and shoppers!

We're launching a social media blitz on Twitter and Facebook this Wednesday to Friday (September 29 to October 1, 2010), demanding that A&F stop spraying. We need you to post a stop-the-spray message (choose one of ours or write your own) on the company's profile, and then tell friends!

On Facebook?

1. Comment on Abercrombie & Fitch’s post of the day on their wall. (Go to facebook.com/abercrombie and remember that you have to “like” them first.) Here are some sample wall posts, or feel free to make up your own.

Chemicals linked to sperm damage, allergies and asthma are not hot. A&F, stop spraying toxic fragrance all over your stores, workers and shoppers, and make Fierce sexy and safe!

We don’t want to be exposed to chemicals that can mess up our hormones or make us feel sick while we’re shopping for clothes! A&F, please stop spraying toxic Fierce fragrance all over your stores.

A&F, you owe your customers and 10,000 workers a non-toxic experience. Stop spraying Fierce inside and outside A&F stores, and remove chemicals linked to sperm damage and asthma from all your fragrances.

2. Then update your profile status with: "I just told Abercrombie & Fitch to stop spraying toxic chemicals all over their stores that can mess up hormones or make us feel sick!" (Don’t forget to tag Abercrombie & Fitch!)
