URGENT UPDATE: 6/15/12
Almost exactly a year ago, we asked you to call Sen. Grisanti urging him to move forward a bill that banned one type of Tris (a toxic flame retardant) in children's products. You called, Senator Grisanti stood strong, and New York became the first state in the COUNTRY to ban one form of Tris in children's products.
We're in a similar boat right now: Sponsors in both houses committed to coming back this year to add TDCPP, a known cancer-causing chemical, to the phase out in these products. The Tris-Free Children and Babies Act of 2012 (S.6080) passed the NYS Assembly unanimously, and passed the Senate Environmental Conservation Committee unanimously as well. There's only ONE week left, and we need your help to get to the finish line.
Now Sen. Majority Leader Skelos is calling the shots - he has the power to send S. 6080 for a full Senate vote, or let it die.
Please call Senator Skelos' office at 518-455-3171 or 516-766-8383 and do the following:
Let's not allow a single person prevent the entire legislature from protecting kids from cancer. Please call now. Thank you!
If you have not yet done so, please also complete the email action below to email Sen. Skelos and Sen. Grisanti
Tell NYS Senators it's a no-brainer: protect our kids' health from cancer causing chemicals, don't cave to chemical companies.
