Thank Starbucks For Welcoming LGBT Marriages 

Last week, Starbucks joined more than 100 businesses in welcoming LGBT marriages in the state of Washington. Quick on the heels of this endorsement, a call went out for Christians to boycott Starbucks. Believe Out Loud recognizes that God's love knows no limits and we call on Christians to thank Starbucks for standing up for LGBT marriages! To thank the company and their CEO, Howard Schultz, for their continued and public support of the LGBT community, we ask you to show your appreciation.

Our next order will be a Venti(!) to show our heartfelt thanks to you and Starbucks for standing up for LGBT marriages in Washington State. As Christians and customers of Starbucks, we read the news of your support with joy. 

Starbucks has long been a supporter of inclusion, offering domestic partner benefits to employees years before many other companies did. 

Today, a majority of Christians in the United States are supportive of the LGBT community and believe in welcoming their marriages. And each day, so many more Christians continue to study, reflect and change their minds towards welcome too. 

For centuries, some Christians have used single Bible verses to justify acts that today, would be considered universally repulsive. For example, Colossians 3:22 states “Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything.”  While we recognize some Christians have attacked Starbucks and allies of the LGBT community based on their understandings of single Bible verses, we know that as they continue their journey exploring the meaning behind God’s words, that they have the potential to change their minds towards welcome.
