Persistence for Peace

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up…" - 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV)

Through the end of July CMEP is calling for words of encouragement, hope and persistence to help make a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict a higher U.S. priority.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reported from her Monday visit with Israeli officials that, "We all spoke about how to build on the exchange of letters between President Abbas and Prime Minister Netanyahu to get negotiations going because we know the status quo is unsustainable." She also stated that "...Our goal remains an independent Palestinian state living in peace and security alongside a secure Jewish democratic state of Israel."

Having just met with Palestinian National Authority President Mahmoud Abbas the previous week, Secretary Clinton met with Palestinian National Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad during this visit.

Secretary Clinton’s words and actions mean we, as people of faith seeking peace for all God’s children, must be persistent in our calls for a just, lasting and comprehensive peace.
