"Especially once you came along, Hayden, having three older ones and a new baby, I wish I had known how important it would be to take better care of myself, and to have better priorities about what is important when you have little ones at home. I would have not tried to do so many extra things at that stage of my life and just focus more on being settled down and calmer for you four children, especially for you as a high-need child. It was great to have a support organization like La Leche League as I learned more about being a mother, and I'm happy that we now have Attachment Parenting International as a resource to further develop these concepts. I could have used API's support back then!" AskDrSears Newsletter 2010 Daughter and API member Hayden responds: "I love that my children get to be second generation attachment-parented people. This is huge because I gained the benefits of AP as a child and then I get to build on that foundation for my three children. I did not have to start from scratch in my learning how to parent with AP. I have gotten a double dose of the benefits of AP from two different angles--and I am looking forward to someday being an AP grandparent!" |

Please join me in supporting API and make a donation today. Just $10 from every person receiving this message will help API meet its budget and keep the ripples going. Children grow to be their healthiest when they're enveloped in securely attached relationships with their parents and caregivers. In time, resilience, compassion and empathy tend to radiate from those who are securely attached and those who are affected may themselves benefit and continue to pass along the benefit to others around them. This is the Ripple effect and Attachment Parenting International (API) is at the epicenter. API is leading the effort to provide all parents, caregivers and professionals the information and support necessary to start and perpetuate this positive ripple into communities, through society and ultimately, around the world. I support the Ripple. I support secure attachments and I support the work of API. Join me in API's Ripple campaign by viewing the ripple video at www.attachmentparenting.org and forwarding this message and spreading the word in your own circles of influence and encouraging them to do the same. Support a parent. Start a ripple, like Martha Sears. API is a nonprofit organization that relies on memberships and financial contributions to provide needed prevention and support services and information. We hope you will make API one of your charities of choice. Sign up now to receive API's enews, events and information; you may change your subscription options at any time. |
