Speak Out Against Letting Untrained People Carry Loaded, Hidden Guns in Public

Right now, the Wisconsin Department of Justice is accepting public comments on concealed carry permit requirements that let just about anyone carry a hidden, loaded gun in public with almost no training -- even if they’ve never touched a gun in their life.

Please submit your comment into the official public record before the deadline on August 1st at 4:00 pm, and we will also deliver a copy to the new rules committee co-chair.

Dear Mr. Zibolski:

As you review the permanent rules for concealed weapons permits in Wisconsin I encourage you to make the safety of the public your top priority. People from all across Wisconsin, and both sides of the aisle, support sensible training requirements for concealed carry permits.

In fact, a recent survey conducted by Republican pollster Frank Luntz shows a whopping 74% of NRA members believe permits to carry concealed guns should only be granted to people who’ve completed comprehensive gun safety training.

The current rules are incredibly weak and put us all at risk. They allow just about anyone to carry a hidden, loaded gun in public -- even if they’ve never touched a gun in their life, or only took a hunter safety training course.

It is important that you hold Wisconsin applicants to the highest possible training standards before they are permitted to bring loaded guns into our public places.

Sincerely,

David Zibolski
