What does it mean to protect the Klamath-Siskiyou region?
It means finding solutions to permanently protect ecological gems. That is why in the last year KS Wild:
Advanced legislative protection in the Siskiyou Wild Rivers area for the Wild Rogue River, Oregon Caves National Monument and the Chetco River.
Mobilized dozens of volunteers to monitor Botanical Areas and waterways throughout the region.
Worked with businesses to make the case that protecting roadless areas is good for the economy and the environment.
Strengthened our award-winning Rogue Riverkeeper program by engaging dozens of volunteers and taking on important issues like mining and energy development and providing a consistant voice for clean water and wild salmon in the Rogue Basin.
Protecting the Klamath-Siskiyou means defending against threats. That is why KS Wild:
Has 11 staff covering the 11 million-acre Klamath-Siskiyou Region tracking hundreds of timber sales, mining proposals and other destructive projects.
Organized steady opposition to the liquefied gas export pipeline proposal in southern Oregon.
Negotiated to get old growth and new roads dropped from dozens of timber sales in our region.
Won a lawsuit against the Forest Service for allowing extensive grazing in the Marble Mountains Wilderness while ignoring the impact to Wilderness values and visitors.
Sheds light on the growing problem of mining in southwest Oregon, serving as a leading voice for mining reform.
Protecting the Klamath-Siskiyou means building a conservation movement. That is why KS Wild:
Generated over 10,000 public comments, letters, and petition signatures in the last year.
Consistently gained news stories that speak to conservation issues in our region – helping to inform public opinion and debate.
Worked since 2003 to help set the stage for wolf recovery in our region and held three wolf-events since the Klamath-Siskiyou celebrated the first wolf in the region in 60 years!
Advocated for public lands policy based on restoration, recreation and small scale, sustainable logging.
