| The US Global AIDS Plan | Yes, I can call!Thank you for saying you can call. These next few pages will walk you through the critical steps we need you to take today! First, call Senator Schumer at 202-224-6542. His phone line is notorious for always being busy, but it's critical that we try to call. We are keeping track of how hard it is for people to get through, so we can push his office to make it easier to contact them. If you get through, you can leave a message similar to this one with the receptionist. "Hi, my name is ___________ and I'm calling to encourage Senator Schumer to keep his promise to fight for the lives of people with HIV at home and abroad in the negotiations around the 2011 budget. AIDS treatment programs are saving lives, and cannot be cut. The Republican budget proposal would mean the death of at least one million people with AIDS worldwide. Will he make sure that AIDS programs do not get cut in the 2011 budget?" Once you've called, it's really important to let us know how your call went. |
