Hi Friend!

Labor Day Weekend is the time for firing up the grill and reflecting on your experience this summer. But it is also the time for demanding full funding for HIV/AIDS treatment and unrestricted access for all people living with HIV/AIDS globally.

I would like to to let you know about 3 important things that are coming up right away.  The United States is negotiating a trade deal with countries throughout the Pacific region.  It's called the Trans Pacific Partnership.  This free trade agreement currently includes provisions that will make it impossible for developing countries to import lifesaving HIV medications.

Health GAP will be there at the negotiations, which are taking place in Chicago next week.  Here's the first thing I'd like to invite you to:

1.  An AIDS community teach-in on how the Trans Pacific Partnership will affect people living with HIV/AIDS and what we can do about it.

When: Friday September 2 @ 6:30pm

Where: UIC College of Medicine west tower

1853 West Polk Street, Room 221 CMW

(Corner of Polk and Wolcott)

Can you make it and bring others with you? Please contact, akudo@healthgap.org for more details.

2.  All out to protest the TPP (plus free ice cream)

Monday September 5, 2011

11:00am-12:30pm

Rally in Grant Park

(near Congress and Columbus)

Can you make it?  Can you tell others?  How many do you think will come?

3.  Lastly, we are organizing in Chicago to make sure that Senator Durbin and other elected officials stand up for Chicagoans and people around the world living with AIDS.  We meet every 3rd Thursday of the month.  The next one is Thursday, Sept. 15th at 6:30 p.m.  Location TBA.

If you are free to meet with Health GAP staff will we are in Chicago this week and next week, please email, akudo@healthgap.org or call 617-880-9208. Thank you so much!

Looking forward to fighting with you.

Akudo
