Pass the Reproductive Parity Act

Washington women need the freedom and privacy to make healthcare decisions that are right for themselves and their families.

The Reproductive Parity Act will empower women to keep their families strong by ensuring that insurance plans in Washington cover abortion if they cover maternity care.  Denying insurance coverage for abortion interferes with a woman's ability to make these important choices for herself and her family.

The Reproductive Parity Act sponsored by Senator Hobbs SB5009 and Representative Cody HB1044 will ensure that a woman's decision about her pregnancy be made by herself and her family, not her insurance plan.

We would like to thank the co-sponsors of this bill: Senators Litzow, Keiser, Ranker, Conway, Fraser, Darneille, Nelson, Rolfes, Kline, Hasegawa, Harper, Kohl-Welles, Billig, Mullet, McAuliffe, Chase, Hatfield, Eide, Cleveland, Murray, Frockt and Representatives Cody, Jinkins, Takko, Blake, Maxwell, Lytton, Moscoso, Fitzgibbon, Tharinger, Bergquist, Clibborn, Pollet, Goodman, Appleton, Reykdal, Kirby, Green, Van De Wege, Pettigrew, Sells, Springer, Hunt, Moeller, Carlyle, Ryu, Haigh, Liias, Kagi, Tarleton, Pedersen, McCoy, Stanford, Hunter, Hudgins, Farrell, Ormsby, Upthegrove, Riccelli, Stonier, Fey, Santos.

Washington voters have a long history of ensuring a woman’s ability to make the decision to have an abortion.  As Washington proceeds with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Washington women could face increased barriers in their ability to access reproductive health care, including abortion services. Anti-choice politicians in Congress tried to undermine the ACA by inserting a provision to roll back reproductive healthcare. This legislation addresses that problem and guarantees access to a full range of reproductive healthcare including abortion.

We, the undersigned, thank the sponsors and co-sponsors of the Reproductive Parity Act and urge legislators to pass this bill.

Washington women need the freedom and privacy to make healthcare decisions that are right for themselves and their families.
