Earlier this year, the Obama Administration announced changes to the family unity waiver (I-601 Provisional Waiver) process that will help keep families together by reducing the time that U.S. citizens are separated from immediate relatives. This change is an important step going forward at a time when deportations are at an all-time high and citizen children of undocumented parents are being put into the foster care system when their parents are detained or deported.
