STOP Alonso's Deportation!

www.alonsoDREAMact.info

We write to humbly request that you take action to immediately halt the deportation of our friend and community member Jorge-Alonso Chehade.

Alonso was brought to the United States from Peru when he was 14 years old. Eight years later, He is being deported for reasons we cannot comprehend. On March 14, 2009, Alonso and a friend went to visit some friends at Western Washington University and rather than driving back home late at night they decided to stay at their friends' place. The next morning, not being familiar with the area they took a wrong turn on the highway. By the time they noticed they were heading north rather than south, there was one more exit to turn around before the border. This was blocked by construction which left them no choice except to enter Canada and turn around behind the port of entry to return to the United States. Alonso was stopped by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) authorities and when it was discovered that he was undocumented, he was arrested and jailed for 2 weeks. Alonso is set to be deported soon to a country that he barely knows.

Alonso has lived in the United States for 8 years. He has never had any problems with the law. All he ever wanted to do was to go to school, work, have a normal life and help others. Unfortunately because of our broken immigration system Alonso is being prevented from continuing his life and career path after he graduated from the Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.  It would be a disservice to both him and to our country's values to deport him.

We urge you to immediately take action to stop the deportation of Alonso by singing the petition below.

why shall he be deported for a sin that at the time he was not conscious about. Believing in the American Dream will lead for this DREAM ACT to be the solution, not only for him, but for millions of children who don't deserve to face this issue.

3173 November 10, 2009 Mary Manabat Barker Seattle, WA Immigration is a huge, seemingly unsolvable issue. Enabling Jorge-Alonso Chehade to stay as a highly contributing member of US society would be one step toward improving immigration policies.

Laws need to be interpreted appropriately, with much practical sense and above all, with as much humanity as possible.

Please use your powers to keep Jorge-Alonso from being deported. Thank you.
