Let the gas leases in the Thompson Divide expire!
Two companies, SG Interests and Ursa Resources, have asked the BLM to suspend
(i.e., extend) two groups of leases they hold in the Thompson Divide. Suspension might sound like a good thing, but it's not. It doesn't mean putting the threat of drilling on hold. Rather, it means stopping the clock so that the leases don't expire, which only gives the operator more time to drill and prolongs the problem.
Please join us in telling our public land managers not to compound the mistakes of the Bush Administration by breathing new life into illegal leases in roadless areas. Tell them to not grant suspensions - in other words, tell them to LET THE LEASES EXPIRE!
