Take a Stand to Stop Kicking the Can!
Legislators are making important decisions THIS WEEK about how much to invest in our transportation system. They need to hear that we want them to solve our transportation funding crisis for the long term and to modernize our transportation system to support a 21st-century economy.
It is vital that the amount of new revenue dedicated to transportation is sufficient and is part of a long-term plan, not just a short-term Band-Aid. Estimates of the yearly need range from $800 million to $1 billion.
We need to make sure that legislators hear from the people of Massachusetts that we want them to invest significant new revenue in our transportation system and make routinely broken-down trains, potholes, large fare hikes, and crushing debt a thing of the past. A sufficient solution will make sure we're not back in this situation again next year and the year after that.
While a template is provided, we urge you to send an email in your own words, using examples of the need for transportation investments in your region or community.
