Support the Climate Change Strategic Plan

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Climate Change Strategic Plan is a coordinated strategy to reduce global warming pollution and safeguard  fish and wildlife from the inevitable impacts of climate change. It will guide our nation's response to the impacts of climate change on natural resources such as changing wildlife migration patterns, the spread of invasive species, changing precipitation patterns and rising sea levels.

Please join this letter to the US Fish and Wildlife Service supporting their efforts to protect wildlife and wild places from climate change.

As an American and someone who cares deeply about our natural heritage, I support the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Climate Change Strategic Plan and the agency's efforts to protect wildlife and wild places from the impacts of climate change.

Thank you for addressing the urgent threat of climate change on our nation's wildlife and wild places. The plan's emphasis on both reducing global warming pollution and safeguarding fish and wildlife from the inevitable impacts of climate change is commendable. Engaging the American public and the conservation community in efforts to address climate change will be necessary to overcome this incredible challenge.

Endangered species are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, since they are reduced to small populations in limited habitat and already on the brink of extinction. As the US Fish and Wildlife Service scientifically evaluates climate vulnerable species, please prioritize those already on the threatened and endangered species list. In addition, we encourage the Fish and Wildlife Service to address the impact of climate change on species when making decisions on listing, critical habitat, consultation, recovery plans, 5-year reviews and delisting.

Thank you for protecting our nation's wildlife and wild places from climate change.
