NOAA Fisheries Service Cape Ann Art Contest

The NOAA Fisheries Service's Northeast Regional Office (NERO) is having an Endangered Species Day Art contest that focuses on marine endangered species in the Northeast. This contest only involves elementary and middle schools in the Cape Ann area (Gloucester, Rockport, Essex, and Manchester, MA). A winner will be chosen in each of the following grade groups: k-2, 3-5, and 6-8. The three winners will be honored at an evening lecture on May 17th at NERO in Gloucester, MA. There will be an award ceremony for the winners followed by an endangered species lecture by whale-tagging specialist, Dave Wiley. Following the award ceremony, guests are welcome to view the artwork gallery exhibiting all submitted entries. The artwork will be displayed in the NERO lobby from May-June. In addition, the school of each winner will be treated to a visit by Rocky, our life size inflatable right whale calf.
