Endangered Species Day at Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary
Celebrate Endangered Species Day at Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary (San Diego)
May 20: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visit San Diego Audubon Society's "Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary", a prime swath of one of the country's most critically endangered ecosystems: California's coastal chaparral. Approximately 30 species of mammals, 25 reptiles, and 160 bird species have been recorded within the sanctuary. Take a free guided nature tour at 10 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. and learn about the rare and threatened species that are part of this important habitat. (Bring water and sun protection whenever you come out for a visit.) You’ll also be able to see the special displays at the Frank Gander Nature Education Center and pick up information on Endangered Species Day and endangered species preservation.
