Endangered Species Day - Laguna Atascosa NWR

Celebrate Endangered Species Day Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 12:00-4:00pm, at Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge. Learn more about our marine endangered species at the Sea Turtle Open House Table located inside the Visitor Center from 12:00-4:00pm. Then join us in the Amphitheater from 12:30-1:30pm for an interactive update about the lovable, elusive, and endangered Ocelot. Stick around the amphitheater from 1:30-2:00pm for a demonstration of endangered species habitat revegetation, and a chance to get your hands dirty helping out! Take a walk on the wild side from 2:00-4:00pm on our Alligator Tour. The tour begins in the Amphitheater with a talk focused on this former endangered species, followed by a guided trip to some Refuge alligator hot spots. Insect repellent and a refillable water bottle are recommended. All events are free with $3/vehicle admission. Space is limited for the tour. For more info visit www.friendsofsouthtexasrefuges.org or call 956-748-3607. Scouts, students and families welcome!
