On September 17-19 Allegheny Defense Project Board, Staff, Supporters, Friends, Family, (and the Curious) came to the Loleta Recreation Area for great food, fun, and information sharing. We set up camp Friday night at the Millstone Group Camp area. John Stoneman of Allegheny Outdoor Adventures tried out his kayak on the Millstone "lake" while the rest of us lazed about, feasting on Mary and Diane's wonderful soups, cookies, and cakes. The endless pot of coffee and warm fire gave us good reason to stay up, and catch up with our friends and family. Saturday morning after breakfast we hiked the Loleta Trail to a gorgeous overlook. We made it back in time for a hot lunch, and an afternoon trip out to Muzette to check on the PGE Marcellus Shale Gas Well Site there. In the afternoon Bill Belitskus and I reported on the State of the Forest, and Walt Atwood reported on recreation issues on the ANF. Other participants added their insights, or asked questions. We continued the day with dinner as evening settled. When the campfire was rekindled, we enjoyed the music of Stan Barton and Matt Homan. Stan used one of John Stoneman's classic, backpacker's mandolins. Later that evening our group set off into the darkness and moonlight for an evening hike through Loleta. Sunday, after too much coffee, we broke camp early to beat the rain. Our caravan headed out to the ADP field office (AKA Mary and Bill's homestead), where we completed the weekend on Bill and Mary's porch. It was a great weekend. It was wonderful, as always, to catch up with all of our friends throughout the Forest, and from Bradford, Warren, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Jamestown, and Erie.
