Susquehanna River Basin Commission Approved Diversions for Marcellus Shale Drilling
The Allegheny Defense Project appealed three projects approved by the Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) for the diversion and importation of water from the Ohio River basin. The SRBC approved the projects at its quarterly meeting on March 10, 2011. We Need You to Comment on the Forest Planning Rule!
Please help us tell the Forest Service that the proposed Forest Planning Rule would severely undermine transparency and the role of the public in the decision making process. The planning rule as currently proposed by the USFS lacks specificity and clarity. It fails to require the professional expertise of other Federal and State agencies whose information is critical. It allows the agency unwarranted and unnecessary latitude and lack of accountability in using “meeting other multiple use objectives” as an “escape clause” in following the clear requirements of the rule....Read More
Rimrock Clean-up May 22!
The "Friends of Rimrock" will do it's third annual spring clean up on Sunday, May 22nd 2011, 10AM to 3PM (bring your lunch and whatever tools you have available).
Everybody is welcome to come out and help. "Friends of Rimrock" is a coalition of different outdoors and environmental groups. Some of our members are from: the Allegheny Defense Project, Allegheny Outdoor Adventure Group, the Tionesta Snowmobile Group, and Save Our Streams PA. And, we are joined by "regular people" who just want to help clean up Rimrock, which is undoubtedly the "Crown Jewel" of the Allegheny National Forest.
