A Gathering Remembering JoeSept 6, 2011 By Staff On September 11, 2011 at 1PM there will be a gathering to remember our friend Joe Martin. A memorial service will be held at the Mystic Waters Resort. Lunch will follow the service.
Date: September 11, 2011 Location: Mystic Waters Resort. 920 Parkside Drive Limestone, NY (see map here) Time: 1PM Joseph V. Martin, 64 of Bradford, passed away Tuesday Aug. 2, 2011, following a brief illness. Born on May 13, 1947, he was a son of Lawrence J. and Georgia Strotman Martin. On Aug. l, 1997, he married Diane M. Sherk, who survives. He was a graduate of Bradford Central Christian High School. He served in the U.S. Army, including in Korea, between 1966 and 1969. He earned a bachelor's degree in business from the Pennsylvania State University. Joe was well recognized for his active involvement in various community and national issues. A walk down Main Street always turned into a long trip due to his spirited interaction with everyone. Surviving are a stepson, Michael (Tracey) Thomas of Erie; stepdaughter, Deanna (Dean) Hanshew of Gig Harbor, Wash; sisters, Thelma Sheehan of Youngsville, Mary (Charles) Deal of Bessemer City, N.C., Eileen (Paul) LeFort of Glen Ellyn, Ill, and Martha (Craig) Simmons of Bradford; a brother, David L. Martin of Venus; a step grandson; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Rose Anne Martin.
