Stop FGM in the United States: Support the Girls Protection Act
The 1996 US federal law prohibiting the performance of FGM within the US did not address the common situation where girls are taken to their countries of origin to be subjected to FGM. The Crowley-Bono Mack “Girls Protection Act” (H.R. 5137) introduced on April 26, 2010 aims to close this loophole. Please send a letter urging your representative to support H.R. 5137.
