Ask Governor Quinn to Veto Coal to Gas Plant (Luecadia)
Leucadia Company is trying to develop a coal to gas plant on the southeast side of Chicago. They passed a bill this legislative session to force Ameren IL and Nicor Gas to pay 95% of the cost to build and operate the plant. This dirty process is not needed, and we need to ask Governor Quinn to veto this legislation. Please sign this petition and list the religious congregation you attend.
As a person of faith living in Illinois, I believe we have a moral obligation to enact laws that promote clean and renewable energy.
The southeast side of Chicago has already disproportionately suffered from coal soot and high air pollution.
I'm writing to ask you to veto SB 3766, which would make Nicor Gas and Ameren IL pay for 95% of the cost for Leucadia to build and operate their coal to gas plant.
A dirty and expensive coal to gas plant is the last thing that we need in Illinois. I urge you to veto this legislation with a call for more legislation that will bring renewable energy to our state.
Sincerely,
