Each winter, from November through March, Faith in Place partners with congregations in the Chicago area to host a series of one-time, indoor farmers markets.
The farmers markets provide an additional source of income for vendors during the off-season, promote sustainable farming methods and economic justice for regional farm families, encourage healthy, wholesome eating, support the building of relationships between producers and consumers, and help farming families during times of crisis through the Farmer Crisis Fund.
We're also pleased that customers can now use SNAP benefits (i.e., "food stamps" or Link Cards) to purchase food at our farmers markets.
You can also check out our Local Harvest listing.
When & Where All markets are held indoors on Saturdays and Sundays from November through March. The dates and locations of markets during the 2012-13 winter season will be posted in the fall. Click on "Sign up for farmers market emails" to receive a reminder before each market with the date, time and location as well as a list of scheduled vendors. Please keep in mind that not every vendor will be at each market, so the best way to find out which vendors and products will be available at a particular market is to join our email list.
What You'll Find at the Markets The vendors at Faith in Place farmers markets sell a wide variety of goods, including produce (when available), frozen cuts of meat, honey, salsa, jam, mushrooms, granola, bread and other baked goods, hand-spun yarn and soap. Everything you'll find at our markets comes directly from a farm located within 250 miles of Chicago or is produced by vendors who use locally and sustainably grown goods for at least 25% of their ingredients.
Are you a local grower or a vendor committed to using sustainable ingredients? Or is your congregation interested in hosting a farmers market? Call us at 312.733.4640, x116 or x117, or send us an email.
