As a business leader, I urge you to pass legislation that extends the Production Tax Credit (PTC). Extending the credit will create jobs, enhance energy security, make America more competitive in energy markets, and improve the economies of depressed rural communities.
I believe in a sustainable economy where society, businesses, and environment prosper together. The PTC fosters such an economy.
Wind power has proven itself to be reliable and cost-effective. Without the PTC, American wind energy companies will lose ground in global competition. Investors will hesitate to commit capital to wind projects, and this will cost America valuable jobs, especially in manufacturing. By promoting greater investment in wind energy, the PTC reduces America’s vulnerability to volatile prices of fossil fuels. Also, extending the PTC encourages smaller scale community projects, many of which boost the economies of depressed rural areas.
We endorse continued federal support for the PTC. It will provide America with cheaper and cleaner energy and strengthen our competitive edge.
