Dear GAP Supporters:

Transparency and accountability are essential for an honest, effective government and marketplace. Institutions, public and private, that operate in the dark reliably abuse their authority and the public trust. It takes a courageous individual to stand up to corruption. It takes a whistleblower.

Whistleblowers shine a light on wrongdoing and threats to public safety. They provide the spark. They make the initial waves. But without critical allies they will sink beneath the waves they create.

That is why each of us has a role to play -- including you. We need you to join the campaign to enact new rules and protect those brave employees whose vital information enlighten, inform and enfranchise all of us. You can help immediately by demanding a fix to the broken laws that no longer protect federal government employees and government contractors (who now outnumber federal employees).

These reforms are bottled up in the Senate. Your letter (below) will demand that your Senators, and Senate leadership, end the stalemate and pass the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act. Your action will also allow you to receive regular GAP communications, and let us call upon you to send similar letters each time whistleblower reforms get bottled up legislatively.
