FROM THE DIRECTOR
May was a month of big wins. Indie documentary won big when PBS decided to showcase Indie work after a hard fought campaign by filmmakers and viewers (led by Kartemquin Films). You can follow the progression of the movement through my series of blog posts. In a win for librarians, just last week the judicial decision in the Georgia State University lawsuit came down overwhelmingly in favor of fair use. In other news at the Center, we owe a big thank you and good luck to our long-time Project Coordinator, Lauren Ann Donia, who is moving on, we wish her the best of luck in new endeavors. Another big thank you to our graduate fellow Katie Bieze, who has contributed to the Center for the duration of her two year MA program, we couldn't be more grateful for the time and value she's brought us. Finally, June isn't slowing down, we look forward to seeing our many friends and colleagues at SILVERDOCS June 18-24, check out the newly announced line-up online.

Finding Your People - Why Filmmakers Should be on Tumblr...Now
Project coordinator Lauren Donia writes, "I joined Tumblr in the summer of 2010, just a few months before permanently deleting my Facebook account. I was late to the game. Tumblr was already full of people who had been there for a couple of years and they all seemed to know one another. It was a tough nut to crack, as the saying goes, and it took some time for me to develop my sites, find blogs to follow and attract my own followers." Read more...
