Help Save adultBasic!

With our easy click over tool, it only takes one minute to write a letter to the editor of your local paper.

All you need to do is follow the easy step below to select your local newspaper.

Then, you'll be able to just point and click on talking points.  Or you could always write your own letter, if you prefer.

This will help educate your state legislators and neighbors around the importance of saving adultBasic.  Thanks for taking part!

Here's how it works:

First put in your zip code to select papers.

Then select the paper you want to receive your letter (chose the one closest to you).

Composing the letter: This is made super easy by use of click and use talking points.  But, please put at least some of the letter in your own words.

(When you go to click on the talking point - it may not make an arrow, that's ok, just click.)

Don't forget to enter a subject for your letter!

Click Send.

Finally, keep an eye out in your local paper and if it runs - please let us know!

Step 1 - Select a Recipient

  • When Tom Corbett was campaigning for governor he said he supported the 6 month extension of adultBasic. Now that he is governor, he hasn't made any effort to facilitate that. Govern like you said you would on the campaign trail, Tom Corbett. Extend adultBasic!

  • There are nearly 46,000 people currently on adultBasic who cannot afford to lose their only form of health care coverage.

  • I am currently on the waiting list for adultBasic.

  • I currently use adultBasic. I have a pre-existing condition and will have no options for health care if Tom Corbett and the Blues don't find a way to save this program!

  • AdultBasic is the only program that helps working Pennsylvanians who make too much to qualify for Medicaid, but not enough to afford health insurance.

  • The four non-profit "Blues" in PA are required by their charters to make charitable contributions to the Community Reinvestment Fund in order to maintain their tax exempt status. Since they began including adultBasic in those contributions in 2005, their surpluses have grown from $4.2 billion to $5.6 billion. If they could afford it then, they can afford it now!

  • Everyone should call their State Rep and Senator today. Tell them to work to ensure adultBasic's survival until 2014. All Pennsylvanians should be aware of this issue. Lets make sure our legislators care more about hard-working Pennsylvanians than the insurance companies!

  • In a Commonwealth where people die every day because they don't have health insurance, we cannot afford another 46,000 uninsured!
