204 -->203When one rich guy can take control of our state legislature then corruption has reached a critical mass. Our democracy has been co-opted by corporate interests, and that is what Occupy Wall St is about. |

I don't know whether Mr. Pope truly believes, as he says almost in so many words, that every right that the "99%" hold dear is contingent on the right of the 1% to use their riches however obtained to More....destroy in fact the principle of "one person, one vote." Some people do, and I doubt that his understanding of such things is sufficiently subtle to recognize the absurdity of such a position.
But it matters little for the outcome whether the defenders of that principle are deluded or merely dishonest. What matters is whether they, or those of us who believe that the existence of democracy requires that the "malefactors of great wealth" be kept on a short leash, are able to make and enforce the rules.
With great wealth comes great power. Unfortunately, it is seldom accompanied by a sense of great responsibility to the society without which that accumulation of wealth would be impossible. |

I want to take the money out of the aucrioning process that ou government currently has. I know that 94% of the time the candidate with the most money wins. This is just not fair and does not relect the More....best interests of the American people. It is time for candidates run on ideas only not money! Politicians should work for the American people and not specisl interests groups! We need to be heard, we are the majority, we are the voters, we are Americans og the "United States" not of the corporations of America. And we are not idiots who co not see this happening!
We need Major Campaign reform and if you truly love your country and do not serve for money, you will help change this! |
