The response to this morning's message regarding apocalyptic thinking has been tremendously inspiring. It seems that this concept has been on the minds of many Truthout readers for some time. Thank you to those who were touched by it.
Maybe this issue is on so many people's minds because our trust and faith in politics has been rocked by maddening gridlock in Washington, DC; senseless violence and war paid for by our taxes; and the all-out effort by one of two main political parties in the US to destroy all progress on reproductive freedom.
Or maybe people are asking these questions because we just experienced the hottest winter on record in the US, with temperatures in March eight degrees above the 20th century average?
Or was it the meltdown of our economic system and the exposing of the neoliberal lie that somehow rich people and rich countries getting richer was good for the whole?
Or perhaps it is the continued repression of free speech and persecution of whistleblowers and dissidents in western countries who claim to protect freedoms and expand liberty?
Apocalypse - the disclosure of something hidden from the majority of mankind in an era dominated by falsehood and misconception - is anything but comfortable. Instead, this is a moment for reevaluation and realignment.
Will you be a part of tearing down the facade? Will you participate in the great unveiling of the corporatocracy? Will you stand in solidarity with those in your physical and digital communities who seek to forge a different path?
