Few appreciate those who challenge conventional wisdom at first.

People like to compare our current situation with those of the past - often to make excuses for inaction. "We thought we were going to have a nuclear war in the 1960s/'80s, and it worked out." Or, "Once everyone burned whale oil; then when that ran out we found a different fuel." Or, "The recession is over, we bailed out the banks because we had to, but now the economy is coming back. Just look at the stock market!"

The terrifying truth is that the nuclear threat has rebounded since the end of the Cold War, our dependence on dirty fuel threatens our ability to feed ourselves, and the likelihood of another financial collapse has only increased as bankers walk free and continue to pour money into the political system.

Crisis, it seems, is the only time most people pay attention.

But this time something is different. There have been too many crises with no real recovery for the vast majority of Americans. The disconnect between reality and the corporate-media-military-big-oil complex's propaganda has never been more stark. The hunger for real information that can lead directly to action is voracious.
